Mike Stoll

Mike is a retired US Navy Helicopter Pilot who discovered CrossFit while hanging out with some Navy SEALS in November of 2010 during a one-year deployment to Bahrain in the Middle East. He quickly fell in love with the constantly varied methodology, the rapid gains in strength, endurance, power and agility, and the significant improvement in his rugby game. He participated in the 2013 CrossFit Games Open and finished 161st in his age category for Southern California. He is currently a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach.

Eric Sawinda

Eric is an ex-Navy diver who moved to San Diego about 15 years ago, right after he got out of the Navy. Since moving to San Diego Eric has been a member of several CrossFit gyms off and on, never really settling into one gym over another. Recently, his love for CrossFit has been rekindled by the other trainer/owners of CrossFit Hillcrest. Eric is very passionate about CrossFit and wants to share what he knows with his students.

Eric is definitely the most entertaining of the trainers at CrossFit Hillcrest, at least in his own mind. If you come in for one of his classes you will leave sore from the workout and with a smile on your face. Those other trainers are a stick in the mud compared to Eric. ☺ ☺ Eric is particularly entertaining if he has had a substantial amount of coffee, but please do not allow him to exceed two cups per day.

Crystal Canez

Crystal was first introduced to CrossFit in 2010 by a close friend and never looked back. Since then she has immersed herself in the methodology and community CrossFit offers. She loves the daily challenge of improvement and has been able to become fit beyond personal belief.

After seeing improvements in her own physical health, Crystal decided to combine it with her passion for helping people and make coaching her profession. She has been an active member of the health and fitness industry and currently is a Certified NASM Personal Trainer, USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, and Certified CrossFit Level 1.

Crystal’s drive for improvement is exemplified in her coaching, always trying to get the absolute best out of her clients and take them to new heights in both their training and life.

Dan Lucas

Dan has been coaching CrossFit for more than six years. In addition to helping people reach goals through group training, Dan specializes in custom programming and training plans for individual sport specific goals. He has been involved in the athletic community for his entire adult life as an athlete and having a previous a career in corporate athletics. Dan is constantly striving for continued education and to bringing innovative training methods to athletes.

Sarah Northart

My athletic and competitive drive started as a young girl with ballet and developed and morphed as I became interested in sports. I spent many years as a competitive swimmer, which led to my interest in triathlons, and then on to CrossFit. I love the challenge both mentally and physically that CrossFit brings each and every day. Coaching has added such a wonderful dynamic to this sport for me. I’m able to pass my enthusiasm and passion along to everyone I have the privilege of coaching.
