The CrossFit Games season is broken up into three stages. The first stage is the Open. This five-week, five-workout competition is held in the winter in CrossFit affiliates and garage gyms around the world. Workouts are released online each Thursday, and athletes have until the following Monday to submit their scores. Anyone who’s at least 14 years old can sign up, and join in the first stage of the CrossFit Games season. This year’s Open kicks off Friday, February 24th, 2017.
Why compete? To test your fitness against pretty much everyone doing CrossFit in the entire world. It’s really cool to see how you stack up against your fellow athletes! The Open WODs will be our programmed WOD at CFHC on Friday, so you’ll all be doing the workouts anyway – might as well pony up the $20 for registration and see how you stack up!
Speaking of Fridays, evening classes will have a slightly different format. You’ll still RSVP online, but it will be one giant class, starting at 430PM and ending at 730PM. Once you arrive, you’ll sign up for a heat, get yourself warmed up, then do the WOD supervised and judged by one of our trainers (watch out for those no reps!). We call this “Friday Night Lights”, so if you see that on the schedule, now you know what it is.
We’ve been training for this for a while now, so…get registered and good luck!
